14 Karat gold

All of our gold pieces are either 14 Karat Gold Filled or 14 Karat Solid Gold, so what exactly does 14 Karat mean?

14 Karat Gold (often abbreviated to 14k) is a metal alloy, which means it is a combination of two or more metals. 14k gold is made up of approximately 58% pure gold and 42% copper and silver, the addition of copper and silver makes for a stronger pieces that will stand up to everyday wear, without them your piece would likely scratch and become misshapen very quickly.

Using 14k was a conscious choice for us as with 14k comes both an understated, elegant hue, and an unwavering durability not found with its 18, 22 and 24k cousins.

In the case of our 14k Gold Filled pieces, a thick 14k gold layer has been pressure bonded onto a Jeweller’s Brass core (for more on 14k Gold Filled jewellery click here) and in the case of our 14k Solid Gold pieces, the entirety of that piece is 14k Gold, meaning it will last forever.
